Today at 19:30h the Tapas: Spanish Design for Food¨ exposition opens in Matadero de Madrid where we participate with some of our pieces. The exposition, managed by architect Juli Capella, is trying to show through 200 pieces the role design has played in everything related to gastronomy.
Organized by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), the exposition explores how design has been applied not only to the preparation and presentation of the food, but to the needed utensils. The exhibit invites us to reflect about the role design has played in the Spanish gastronomy, showing pieces that are divided by four different areas: food, table, meals and wines
Through the course of the exposition, the visitor discovers how design has found solutions to the different problems the gastronomic world faces. Digging into how specifically the Spanish culture has provided some very clever solutions throughout history.
The pieces selected go from china, where many of our pieces are showcased, to the furniture or architecture used in the restaurants. This project also allows the visitor to get involved in a practical manner in the design and gastronomy territory, offering activities like workshops, conferences or performances
Here we leave pictures of some the pieces exposed in Matadero de Madrid until July 21st that will later travel to São Paulo.
